Become a Community Sponsor
Foremost: thank you to everyone who has contributed thus far and continues to support our mission!About Sponsorships and Donations
We're a non-profit offering training that creates career opportunities and supports professional development. Our goal is that all training at the Guild is free to all members of the greater Oakland1 community. Your donations and sponsorships help make that possible, because we use it to host and deliver free training courses every season, free mentoring, and free computer equipment for our students.
Offering no-cost, professional training delivered by experts with years of experience in their trade is an enormous challenge on so many levels. If you want:
- ...more diversity in tech
- ...youth training programs to prepare them for their future in tech
- ...apprenticeship opportunities for current and future generations
- ...vocational training courses for yourself and your community
- ...a public tech workshop in your neighborhood that provides tech services
...then support the work we're doing at Programmers Guild. We invite members of the community to visit our tech workshop, get to know us and even join us for a training session! We host a community event once a month where you can meet the team and connect with others like you.
Sponsors have the option to be named on our website and events, so that the community knows about your contributions to building a city of opportunity. You'll also receive an honorary membership. Most importantly, you're ensuring there's a tech workshop in your neighborhood that's open to all ages and skill levels.
How to Become a Sponsor
To sponsor one of our current training courses or events, you can call, visit or email us. We value meeting members of the community and building relationships. If you'd like to make anonymous contributions, you can submit donations directly through Zelle (recommended) or Paypal.
Why You Should Become a Sponsor
There are too few career opportunities in tech going too infrequently to communities that have been left behind. A key reason is tech careers are inaccessible: equipment is expensive, training is expensive, tech events are expensive, entry level jobs rare and mentoring scarce. The work we're doing is about action: learning about tech and pursuing a career should be as simple as going down the street to your local guild and signing up for the next session. That's Programmers Guild. We don't stop at just offering training. We continue to develop annual apprenticeship opportunities for the next cohort of programmers. We love the work we're doing. We need sponsor support to deliver these opportunities.
With your support we provide an open door: a fully-equipped space to learn, professional instructors, and loaner laptops and gear to all learners of all ages. We deliver free training workshops every month and our programs are affordable. Accessible. We're passionate about creating opportunity within our community and we believe this is a key ingredient.
1We primarily serve Oakland, Hayward, Berkeley and other neighboring communities.
